Built by Alubat of France, she was built to an outstanding and revolutionary design. She is a good size yacht with plenty of space down below. She’s quite a light boat weighing in at 8.5 tonnes and has 3.6 tonnes of internal lead ballast. The centre board and rudder can be raised using the hydraulic powered systems. The draught with the centreboard and the rudder raised is 0.8 metres. As you can imagine this an amazing bonus when exploring the more remote anchorages on the West Coast. The Ovni 43 has proved itself on the oceans of the world having been extensively sailed by Jimmy Cornell on his tremendous voyages circumnavigating the globe.. She is Ideal for discerning sailors who wish safety and sea-keeping qualities in all weather conditions. Based in Oban Marina on Kerrera, she can be chartered from there or Oban town (Transit Marina).
Above decks, she has a furling Genoa.
and fully-battened Mainsail with Lazy Jack system.
There is an Asymmetric Spinnaker, Furling System and Inner Forestay.
In the spacious cockpit, she has a large spray-hood,
Navigation Instruments, and colour Plotter.
There is a Rib and outboard.
Below decks it’s all very spacious, with a large bright saloon and dining area fitted with a large dining table. The fully equipped Galley has twin sinks, a large chest fridge and Force 10 cooker with oven and grill, and a chest coolbox. There is a chart table with all the standard electronics and there’s also an additional colour Plotter mounted in the cockpit. There’s an abundance of storage area and hot water is on tap from either shore power or from the engine clarifier.
The Accommodation is excellent. There are three luxurious double cabins.
The Port cabin has an extra full length bunk fitted.
The Master Cabin has it’s own en-suite basin and hot shower.
The saloon and dining area can be converted to two full-length singles and has adjacent toilet/heads and shower facilities.
The engine is the excellent reliable Volvo Penta MD22 50hp. It is a powerful marine engine that will drive Fidelio along at 7 knots or more. Fidelio can easily be manoeuvred in the Marina, & has a bow thruster that allows for fuss free berthing.
Fidelio comes fitted with a main battery bank of 5 x 12v 120Ahr batteries and a seperate engine starting battery. There are also 2 seperate batteries fitted for the bow thruster. Shore power can be plugged in and will provide battery charging through the 60A Cristec Charger. The engine driven alternator, the Aerogen-4 wind generator, & 70w solar panels also help keep the battery banks well charged for cruising. The Engine Starting Battery is independent of the domestic battery bank and ensures reliable starting regardless of the state of charge in the domestic bank.
A small 240v 200W Invertor at the chart table allows recharging of mobile phones and laptops whilst underway.
There is a Caribe RIB mounted on davits powered by a 2HP Honda 4-stroke that can be launched very quickly.
A 25Kg Delta anchor with 50 metres of chain, easily handled with the electric windlass is available for anchoring.
The Easy-drop stack-pack system, three line reefing and gas strut kicker make mainsail handling particularly safe & easy. In addition to the standard Halyard Winches there is a powerful Lewmar 40 Electrical Halyard Winch.
The standing rigging is all in excellent condition.
There is a top of the range 8 man Life raft mounted at the stern. Manoeuvring can be assisted with the use of the powerful bow-thruster.
The 3 bladed Max prop. will help you achieve excellent performance whilst sailing in all wind conditions and especially in light airs.
A disc rope cutter is fitted on the prop shaft.
